Office 2007 SP1 - Unable to send or receive mail
I've installed office 2007 sp1 last night, and immediately after
rebooting, I could no longer send or receive email. I get the error
message that Outlook could not connect to host. To test this, I
uninstalled SP1, and I could once again send and receive email. I've got
an IMAP and POP3 account configured.

RE: Office 2007 SP1 - Unable to send or receive mail
Hi,

Reinstall the Office 2007 SP1 update and perform the steps below to see if it works.

#1 check the Antivirus program
==============
Such an issue may be caused by the incompatibility between the Antivirus program and the Office
2007 SP1. Temp disable the Antivirus program and then try to send/receive emails in Outlook 2007
SP1. What is the result?

#2 Check the connection with your POP3 account server
======================
1. Click Start >Run. Type "cmd" (without the quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click Ok.

2. Type the following command
 Telnet <incoming-mail-server-name> 110

Is the connection successful? (If it is successful, it will show a black window.)

3. Repeat above steps and type the following command instead.
Telnet <outgoing-mail-server-name> 25

Is the connection successful?

#3 take a screen shot of the exact error message in Outlook 2007 when the send/receive doesn't
work.

How to take a screen shot, please follow the steps below:
------------------------------------------------------------------
a. When screen shows up, press the Print Screen key (right of F12 key) Note: nothing will happen.
b. Open MS Paint program (click Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > Paint).
c. Click Edit (menu) -> Paste or press Ctrl + V.
d. Click File (menu) -> Save. Save it as a *.jpg file and send it to me as an attachment. My email
address is v-emilin@microsoft.com.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Emily Lin
