Email address policies not applying!!!
Hi there,

I have Exchange Server 2007 SP1 on one server - CAS, HT, MB combined. I
created 2 additional email adress policies and everything worked fine.
However after a day or so they stopped applying to newly created users, and
they were left with only the highest priority email address.
I checked the policies and the principal two are listed as applied, and all
domains are listed also as accepted domains.

Can someone please give me a pointer as to how to troubleshoot this? Without
the email address policies the mail is looping and not being delivered from
outside. There is nothing in the Event Viewer.

Re: Email address policies not applying!!!
What conditions have you set to apply the policies?

Re: Email address policies not applying!!!
Hi, thanks for replying.

I have no particular condition applying, as the policy should apply to all
the users. Originally I applied to it all users with mailboxes and then to
all users.
Additionally I enforced the policy once again and re-started the System
Attendant service.

I also increased the following diagnostic logging keys to their maximum
without errors, as I re applied the policies.

MSExchange ADAccess\Recipient Update Service
MSExchangeAL\Account Management
MSExchangeAL\Address List Synchronization

I have also deleted and reapplied the policies and run the command using the
command shell with Verbose output to check the application - no problems.

As a short term fix I have manually added the addresses for these users and
removed the option to apply the policy automatically - but this won´t be
practical for 3000 users!!

Thanks again.

Re: Email address policies not applying!!!
If you arent filtering the email addresses to a particular subset of users,
why dont you add the desired domains to the Default Recipient Policy?

Re: Email address policies not applying!!!
Thanks a lot, my friend, that seems to have done the trick.

Is there any limitation in the functionality of Exchange that wouldn`t have
permitted me to apply other policies or is it some kind of transient error?

Re: Email address policies not applying!!!
I believe the default policy will take precidence over other policies if no
criteria is specified....
