Problem in Outlook 2003 connecting remotely via SSL to Exchange 2003
What am I overlooking? Outlook 2003 clients cannot establish an SSL
connection to a simple Exchange 2003
service on a Windows 2003 server.

The Windows 2003 server is connected directly to the Internet, i.e. the
server's public IP address is visibible to the Internet with only the
Windows 2003 own RRAS firewall insulating it from the Internet. I've
checked firewalls on both the client and server operating systems.

Apple iPhone Exchange connector can access this Exchange 2003 service via
SSL, but Outlook 2003 cannot. Consequently, I assume the Exchange 2003 is
set up correctly and the problem is on the Outlook 2003 side.

Outlook 2003 can connect to the Exchange service through a Windows VPN
tunnel between the client Windows OS and the Windows 2003 and not using SSL.

I suspect I'm overlooking something obvious.

RE: Problem in Outlook 2003 connecting remotely via SSL to Exchange 20
Don't know much about the IPhone connection, but doesn't it use IMAP to
connect? Is this the port open through the firewall Iphone the same for your
outlook setup? Do you have the ssl port open for outlook through RRAS if they
are different ports? That would explain to me why the VPN works and non SSL.

Sorry for no real answer just thought I would throw out some questions to
ask yourself no matter how obvious.

Hope it helps.
