Simple front end to access pop3 email from Exchange 2003 (SBS 2003)
Hello all!

I apologize in advance for the cross posting but I'm in a bit of a time
crunch.

I recently set up an SBS 2003 Server for a customer who owns a retirement
community in Florida. They had been using hosted pop3 accounts from
Interland (now Web.com) for their business email. They had also been handing
out email accounts to their residence under the same domain as their
business. I went ahead and changed the MX record for their domain to point
to the Exchange Server and added the business accounts. Of course, this now
prevents the residence from getting email unless I create a user account for
each resident on the SBS box.

Question:

Is there a web based or other simple front end I can use to access email
(pop3) on the Exchange Server beside OWA? It would need to have a simple
user and password login like OWA.

I don't mind creating an account for each user and put them in their own
group. This way they could keep their same email addresses. These are
elderly people and I want as little impact for them as possible. Keeping the
same email address is preferred. OWA allows a web based front end but I
don't want to expose public folders or the GAL to the residence. I was told
I could use OWA admin to customize OWA but I think that applies to all users
and I want the business folk to have full access to all the features of OWA
if they choose to use it. RPC over HTTPS is the preferred method of
accessing mail from home however.

So to make a long story short, I want to add each resident to SBS Exchange
thereby preserving their email address and find a nice front end they can
use to access pop3 mail from Exchange that won't expose stuff they don't
need to see.

Any ideas?

I'll be happy to answer any further questions you might have.

Thanks!
