Exchange 2003 / 2000 Help
Current setup

1 DC (Windows 2000 server standard) in network currently running exchange 2000

installing

1 Member server (Windows 2003 enterprise) will run exchange 2003

I am reading through the Exchange server 2003 deployment guide and it says this -

In the domain where the schema master resides, run ForestPrep. (By default, the schema master runs on the first Windows domain controller installed in a forest.) Exchange Setup verifies that you are running ForestPrep in the correct domain. If you are not in the correct domain, Setup informs you which domain contains the schema master.

So what I am understanding is that I have to run this forestprep on the DC (Windows 2000 server standard edition running exchange 2000) from the exchange 2003 disk ...

My Questions

What will this do to the current version of exchange 2000 running on the DC ?
Is there anything else I should do prior to this step?
Do I still do these steps (from previous post) even though I am not making the new server a DC
          ldifde.exe /i /f
          inetOrgPersonFix.ldf /c "DC=mycorp,DC=com"
         ADPrep /forestprep
         ADPrep /domainprep

Thanks much

Mell
