Exchange error 0x8004010F (exchange 2k3/outlook 2k3)
I made some recent changes to a few user accounts and not all of my users can
ssee the new additons or name changes. When i try to download the OAB again
i get this error code 0X8004010F. I also noticed they have a huge number of
sync failures dating back to 2007.
An internet search on the code helped to undercover a strange discovery. I
have two address books listed in ESM>RECIPIENTS>OFFLINE ADDRESS LISTS. One
is named after my remote site, the other is called default, which i have
tried to rebuld and even recreated in attempt to fix my AB issue. Again I am
in ESM I drill down to SERVERS > PRI EXCH SERVER > FSG > PFS > PUBLIC FOLDERS
or PF INSTANCES, I have duplicate listing for OAV v 2, 3a, and 4. For
Offline Address Book i have two, one for each OAB in the offline address
lists node.
If I go to SERVERS > REMOTE EXCH SERVER > FSG > PFS > PUBLIC FOLDERS or PF
INSTANCES. I now see three listing for OAB v 2, 3a and 4 and three listing
for offline address book. One for each OAB then another that is described as
OAB - First Adminstrative Group.
For each listing I have one that has a size greater than 0 and the others
are 0. So if i have 3 listing for OAB v2, one has a size of 576 KB while the
other two report 0.
Can I just delete the extra listing, should I reset the system folders or is
there something more involved going on?
Any assistance is welcome and I thank you in advance for responding.

Re: Exchange error 0x8004010F (exchange 2k3/outlook 2k3)
Hi Douglas,
The error code 0x8004010F translates into "No Such Object" This means either
the client is not able to find the OAB files from the OAB folders on server
or they are being vanished as soon as they are downloaded on the client.
On the client side check if the antivirus software is interrupting the
normal routine. If yes then may be you can try excluding the location of
.oab files in it.
If you are using an automated .prf deployment then you can try configuring
the profile manually instead of using PRF files.
On the server side before you reset the system folders you need to know that
it will reset the complete set of system folders which may result in loss of
calendaring information.
As you wrote you may not require the other Offline address book if your
users in another site are not separated from the main organization. However
if this is a business requirement then I wont make any comment on it.
Additionally take a look at below articles if they can be any help to you:

Re: Exchange error 0x8004010F (exchange 2k3/outlook 2k3)
Hi Milind,
Thanks for responding. I am not sure if our AV program is casing the issue
at the client end at this time. I am more concerned about the duplication of
the OAB folders. If I can resolve the multiple OAB folders then I can
concentrate on any lingering issues. I found this article after i posted my
question:
http://blogs.msdn.com/dgoldman/archive/2006/08/10/How-to-deal-with-multiple-OAB-public-system-folders-of-the-same-type.aspx
I looked into the properties of the OAB folders in more depth and noticed
the email addresses have number appended to the end. for examples one OAB v2
folder has an email address of oabversion2@orgname.com and another has
oabversion21@ and so one. So right now I dont which ones to delete. Hoping
for some help. Thanks.

I think you should be looking at Dave Goldman's blogs - he is
considered GOD of OAB within the entire Microsoft.
Ok for starters sake -
1) Go down to your server level - FSG - mailbox store properties -
check which offline address list its pointing.
2) At the same location check if your store points to your local
public folder server.
2) Next, run a rebuild on OAL (The name which you found on point 1)and
check for errors on your application logs.
3) Check if the update interval is set to "Always Run" on OAL
4) Check if the offline address book server is populate with an
existing server at the same location.
5) The location under PF Tree (ESM>AG>Folders>System Folders>OFFLINE
ADDRESS LISTS) - check with the name of the OAL listed under your
mailbox store properties - go to the properties of OAB Ver. 2 / 3A / 4
- verify each has your Exchang server listed in its replication tab.
6) Run Exchange Best Practice Analyzer tool for errors / warnings if
any. (downloadable from exbpa.com)

Re: Exchange error 0x8004010F (exchange 2k3/outlook 2k3)
If you end up with duplicated for your system folders it could have been
caused by public folder replication problems or a bad restore. If you follow
my blog to delete the duplicates you can then just rebuild your OAB and you
will be fine. Just keep in mind that deleting the folders will cause a full
download in most cases. I have seen virus software play a part in this in
the part to some degree when the public folder files have not been excluded
from the scanner and get locked open when they are needed.
