Urgent, please help
Hi,

This is my third time posting this question with no response. Could someone
please shed some light on this issue. Thanks.

User1 has one mailbox with email addresses user1@domain.com (default),
test1@domain.com and test2@otherdomain.com.

When emails are sent to test1@domain.com and test2@otherdomain.com, they
arrive in user1's inbox, but Exchange 2007 SP1 changes the "TO" field to
his default email user1@domain.com.

How can the user differentiate which emails were sent to which email
address?

This never happened on Exchange 2000. How can I stop this from happening?

Thanks in advance,

ED.

Re: Urgent, please help
Create separate folders for each email address.
Create rules that check the header for specific text and put one of the
other email addresses in the text to look for.
Then when an email arrives to one of those other addresses, it should move
it to the appropriate folder.

Re: Urgent, please help
Hi
There isn't a mail rule for checking the header, at least not in Outlook
Express and Windows Mail.
How can I stop exchange 2007 SP1 from changing the "TO" name/address?
Thanks,
ED.

You never mentioned that. Honestly, most people use Outlook or Outlook Web
Access with Exchange.
I would suggest the same.

Re: Urgent, please help
I checked OWA and Outlook 2007, but neither have an option in the rules to
filter on info in the header.

I think this has something to do with: each mailbox in exchange can only
have one rely to email address, which is selected as the default. I don't
understand why this has to be enforced? Nor do I understand why Exchange
2007 has to alter the email message and replace the actual email addresses
used with the default ones!

Any other ideas, anyone?

Can someone from Microsoft shed some light? Please, this is urgent.

ED

Yes, you can create rules based on the header info, but for more help with
that you should probably post in microsoft.public.outlook as rules are a
client thing.

What I do, if it's important that the "to" field/display name appear as you
wish, is create distribution groupfor address2@domain.com &
address3@domain.com. Put the user in the group & they'll easily see to whom
the messages were sent.

Re: Urgent, please help
Thanks for replying.

I posted here because I want to implement this on the Exchange 2007 SP1
server.

I did some testing and I can't filter on the header because the actual email
address that was used is deleted and replace by Exchange. So there is no way
to tell to which email address it was sent.

This did not happen in previous Exchange versions.
Perhaps this is a bug in Exchange 2007 SP1???

Any other ideas?
ED.

Re: Urgent, please help
As I said, it's no longer in the message itself on the client. Exchange 2007
replaces it with the default mailbox SMTP email before it gets to the
mailbox and to the client.

Re: Urgent, please help
ED,

Were you able to find a solution for this issue. This one is driving me
crazy also. In both exchange 2000 and 2003 there were workarounds for this
issue (using P2), but I cannot find one for 2007. I have found several other
postings on this issue but none with a solution.

thanks,

Ken.
