Cannot receive email from outside business partners, 550 Requested
We have two mail domains mail.acompany.com.au, and mail.bcompany.com.au,
which are pointed to one exchanger server. Every employee has two email
addresses. mail.acompany.com.au is working fine, but mail.bcompany.com.au
only receives email from internally. When someone from outsite sends the
email to xxx@bcompany.com.au, he would receive the error message as below

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at xxx.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

:
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx does not like recipient.
Remote host said: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable
Giving up on xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx.

I can ping mail.bcompany.com.au, which is pointed to right IP address. But I
don't know how to check MX record at www.donstuff.com.

Does someone here help me to fix this issue?

Many thanks in advance

Re: Cannot receive email from outside business partners, 550 Requested
Use www.mxtoolbox.com, and put your domain name in the box then click the mx
lookup button.

Re: Cannot receive email from outside business partners, 550 Reque
Hi John,
Thanks for your reply. I did the MX record test for mail. bcompany.com.au in
www.mxtoolbox.com, and could not find any error.
But users could not receive the email sent to their xxx@bcompany.com.au
email account from outside.

How is the email address for xxx@bcompany.com.au created? Which version of
Exchange?

Re: Cannot receive email from outside business partners, 550 Reque
We use SBS2003 R2 with SP1. We open user's property in Active Directory and
click email address, then create new smtp address for the users. We setup two
email addrss for each employee, xxx@acompany.com.au, xxx@bcompany,com.au; and
also we can send email from xxx@acompany.com.au to xxx@bcompany.com.au
internally.
xxx@acompany,com.au can receive email from outside, but not
xxx@bcompany.com.au. Users can use their xxx@bcompany.com.au to send out.

Re: Cannot receive email from outside business partners, 550 Reque
In order to accept delivery for a domain, Exchange 2003 needs the domain
added as part of a recipient policy and the "This exchange organization is
respnsible for all mail delivery to this address" box checked, even if there
is no filter set in the policy and it's not generating addresses for anyone.
It only works internally because the address resolves in ad to an address
for which delivery IS accepted.

Create a recipient policy for bcompany as in the first paragraph of the
"Domains That Are Local to Your Exchange 2000 Server and Exchange Server
2003 Organization" section of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260973/en-us

Thanks, John. It's fixed.
