We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 but the system has been upgraded from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 to Exchange 2003. We have several Administrative Groups corresponding to our child domains. Whenever an admin in one of the child domains adds a USER to Active Directory the Exchange attributes are created correctly and the new user is assigned an E-Mail address with the correct child domain suffix. So if we create a user called User1 in domain.abc.com, an E-Mail address of User1@domain.abc.com is created as it should be. However, when a Distribution Group is created in a child domain Active Directory, the Exchange attributes reflect the E-Mail suffix from a different child domain (Administrative Group) in our domain. So...if I create a Distribution Group called "mail" in doman.abc.com, an E-Mail address from domain.def.com is created so I end up with a Distribution Group in domain.ABC.com's Active Directory with an E-Mail address of mail@domain.DEF.com. This is consistent when Distribution Groups are created in any of the child domains. So it seems that the Recipient Policies are working correctly for Users but assign a random E-Mail suffx for other child domains to Distribution Groups. I suspect this has to do with Recipient Policies being carried over from Exchange 5.5 and that the policies only applied to Users rather than to Users and Distribution Groups. Is there a way to change the Recipient Policies that are in place to ensure that Distribution Groups are included as well as Users? Or...can we safely delete and re-create the Recipient Policies for each of the child domains (Administrative Groups)? Thanks!
