Windows Mobile email issue
We used to use Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server, Good Mobile Messaging, and
Treo 650 (Palm OS), before we moved to Microsoft Exchange 2003 Server,
ActiveSync, and AT&T Tilt (Windows Mobile 6 OS). Our phone system is setup
to send voicemail attachment with an email notification everytime they
receive a voicemail message. The users also received the same email when
they used their Treo 650. After we moved to AT&T Tilt (Windows Mobile 6 OS),
the users do not receive the email notification with voicemail attachment on
their AT&T Tilt anymore, but they still receive the email notification with
voicemail attachment on their desktop computer and also on Outlook Web
Access. All other type of emails are delivered on the AT&T Tilt without any
problem. Any help on this issue would really be appreciated.

TIA,
Alex

Re: Windows Mobile email issue
John,
Thank you for your reply. I have verified the attachment setting, and it is
set not to limit the message below certain size. I tried sending an email
with a voicemail attachment manually (as oppose to coming from our phone
system), and the user can receive the voicemail on the Tilt without any
problem. So it looks like Exchange can receive the voicemail attachment
fine, but the Tilt can receive the voice mail attachment as long as it does
not come from the phone system. If you have any other suggestion, please let
me know.

Alex

Curious, can you send an email VM notification without the VM attachment to

Re: Windows Mobile email issue
Have you tried turing up IIS Logging file to see if it shows anything when
syncing with the WM6 Device? Have you verified that this is only happening
with the tilt? Any suggestions from the provider?

Re: Windows Mobile email issue
John,

I have checked the IIS logging file and did some testing. The following are
the testing that I did:

1. Receving a normal email.

2. Receiving a VM notification email.

After receiving both of the above, I looked at the IIS log and compared the
two logs. The two logs are identical, except for the fact that the VM
notification email log has a few extra lines at the beginning of the log,
which is the following:

2008-06-30 21:30:26 192.168.3.5 UNSUBSCRIBE
/ExchDAV/user1@companydomain.com/ - 80 PACER\user1 192.168.3.5
Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync/6.5.7638.1 207 0 0

2008-06-30 21:30:26 192.168.3.5 POST /Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
User=user1&DeviceId=0B4A738CDB9C80D1B7745EB69FF4ABE6&DeviceType=PocketPC&Cmd=Ping&Log=V4TNASNC:0A0C0D0FS:0A0C0D0SP:1C17I37497S2309356R0S0L900H0P
443 domainname\user1 166.190.32.5 MSFT-PPC/5.2.404 200 0 0

As I have mentioned previously, I used Treo 650 (with Good Mobile Messaging)
and did not have this problem, but I have not tried using ActiveSync with
any other device. The provider does not think that it is a problem on their
end, and I am also not sure if it is or not at this point.

TIA,

Alex

Re: Windows Mobile email issue
Alex,

Do you have any kind of rule (or script) at the Exchange Server or at
Outlook which automatically moves the VM messages to a specific folder?
