Here's an odd one for you Exchange gurus. I am currently in process of migrating to Exchange 2007 from Exchange 2003. I have migrated all mailboxes to the new 2007 environment and was looking at the message tracking log on the old (2003) server before I decommission it and I'm noticing that there seem to be random e-mails that show the sender and recipient as the same person and that the message has been routed through the old Exchange server to the new Exchange server. I can't find anything in the tracking logs of the new server. Any idea what this would be?
Was the message submitted to the Store or by SMTP on the old server? -- Bharat Suneja Microsoft Corporation blog: exchangepedia.com/blog This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. The first event when I look at the message tracking is Message submitted to advanced Queueing then it goes through everything and then goes to my new 2007 environment. So it looks like its by SMTP. Also, it happens multiple times for one user. We are still running Outlook 2003. At first I thought it was just the redirection to the new server, but I'm seeing it happening to people multiple times throughout the day, and I know this isn't the first they've logged on since they've migrated. Thanks for the quick response! - If it's submitted by SMTP, look at the SMTP logs for the SMTP (client) host's ip address. - There's no reason why the older server would stop accepting smtp submissions for valid recipients (regardless of which mailbox server the recipient is on... ). SMTP logs should tell you who/what submitted the message. -- Bharat Suneja Microsoft Corporation blog: exchangepedia.com/blog This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
