ExMerge / Exchange System Manager
Hi All,

I am about to move some mailboxes from one Mailbox Store on our Exchange
2003 to another Mailbox Store.

Before that, I make a backup copy of the mailboxes using ExMerge.

But, with one mailbox a strange thing happens: the ExMerge shows that there
are almost no data/items in the mailbox, but I can see that there is almost
4 GB (in Exhange System Manager), and the user can see his data in
Outlook...?

If I try to run ExMerge, it makes a .pst file that is about 5 kb.....?

How do I take a backup of the mailbox then?

Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanx in advance!

Regards,

            Zoran

Re: ExMerge / Exchange System Manager
You probably don't have the proper permissions on the mailbox. You should
check the Exmerge log file for details.
That said, Exmerge will only be able to copy 2 GB of data. That is the max
size of the PST allowed.

If you must get a backup of it, create an Outlook profile for the user and
export the mailbox to a PST.

Re: ExMerge / Exchange System Manager
Hi Martin,

thanx for your reply.

Yes, that's right, the backup never comes up more than those 2 GB.

The only way is to log on as user? No other way? I mean, I need to do it for
several users, it will take years....!

Re: ExMerge / Exchange System Manager
Well, you don't have to dump your mailboxes to PST before moving them.
I would just have a good backup.

That said, you are kind of stuck if you want to do it. Outlook or Exmerge...
