Exchange 2003 I have a few users where I am only allowing email from within our domain yet in IMF I see emails addressed to those users in the archive. It has been confirmed that they are only receiving email from within our domain so why are emails addressed to them making its way to IMF?
how did you configure their mailboxes so that they could receive only internal email? -- Susan Conkey [MVP] "Mark" wrote in message news:2ECA17D5-FD95-448E-B2FC-45410CE184C0@microsoft.com... > Exchange 2003 > > I have a few users where I am only allowing email from within our domain > yet in IMF I see emails addressed to those users in the archive. In AD under Exchange properties - Delivery Restrictions I checked to only receive email from and I selected the person as they only need to receive email from a certain person in our office. but if they have a valid/routable smtp address, I believe they'll still be able to receive Internet email...the best way to prevent the receipt of any Internet email is to change the smtp address to something that is bogus, and not reachable from outside your Org... -- Susan Conkey [MVP] "Mark" wrote in message news:EDF02319-19FE-4A5B-9B57-1BFE4A6F531B@microsoft.com... > In AD under Exchange properties - Delivery Restrictions I checked to only > receive email from and I selected the person as they only need to receive > email from a certain person in our office. > > "Susan" wrote in message > news:et8PhPetIHA.420@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >> how did you configure their mailboxes so that they could receive only >> internal email? >> >> -- >> Susan Conkey [MVP] >> >> >> >> "Mark" wrote in message >> news:2ECA17D5-FD95-448E-B2FC-45410CE184C0@microsoft.com... >>> Exchange 2003 >>> >>> I have a few users where I am only allowing email from within our domain >>> yet in IMF I see emails addressed to those users in the archive. okay but when I send an email to a user through a hotmail account I receive an undelivered message unlike a spammers message that did not make it all the way through to the user but was sitting in IMF "Susan" wrote in message news:uPoIJxetIHA.3804@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > but if they have a valid/routable smtp address, I believe they'll still be > able to receive Internet email...the best way to prevent the receipt of > any Internet email is to change the smtp address to something that is > bogus, and not reachable from outside your Org... > > -- > Susan Conkey [MVP] > > > > "Mark" wrote in message > news:EDF02319-19FE-4A5B-9B57-1BFE4A6F531B@microsoft.com... >> In AD under Exchange properties - Delivery Restrictions I checked to only >> receive email from and I selected the person as they only need to receive >> email from a certain person in our office. >> >> "Susan" wrote in message >> news:et8PhPetIHA.420@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... >>> how did you configure their mailboxes so that they could receive only >>> internal email? >>> >>> -- >>> Susan Conkey [MVP] >>> >>> >>> >>> "Mark" wrote in message >>> news:2ECA17D5-FD95-448E-B2FC-45410CE184C0@microsoft.com... >>>> Exchange 2003 >>>> >>>> I have a few users where I am only allowing email from within our >>>> domain yet in IMF I see emails addressed to those users in the archive. >>>> It has been confirmed that they are only receiving email from within >>>> our domain so why are emails addressed to them making its way to IMF? >>> >>> > >
IMF normally does not scan internal emails (unless you specifically enabled scanning of authenticated connections). So the question is: How are these senders (whose emails are being blocked) submitting their emails? Are they using: - Outlook configured as an Exchange client - OWA - Some SMTP/POP3 client such as Outlook Express -- Alexander Zammit WinDeveloper Software IMF Tune - Unleash the Full Intelligent Message Filter Power http://www.windeveloper.com/imftune/ "Mark" wrote in message news:2ECA17D5-FD95-448E-B2FC-45410CE184C0@microsoft.com... > Exchange 2003 > > I have a few users where I am only allowing email from within our domain > yet in IMF I see emails addressed to those users in the archive.
