Help...Mailboxes are not created
Hi,
I'm just installed Exchange 2003 on Windows Server 2003. When I use
Active Directory Users and Computers to create a mailbox, the user cannot
connect to the mailbox in Outlook. I checked in system manager but the
mailbox has not been created. I've tried rebooting, forestprep, domainprep,
etc...

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jay

are you using ADUC on the Exchange server? the ESM is installed on the
server? are the users being stamped with an smtp address? if not, check

Re: Help...Mailboxes are not created
Hi Susan,
I am using ADUC on the Exchange Server and ESM is installed. All the
users are getting the correct SMTP address too. The server is just NOT
creating the mailbox for some reason. Nothing is being logged either.

Re: Help...Mailboxes are not created
Have you tried to send an email to the smtp address?
See if that initializes the mailbox.

Just tried. I checked ADUC and everything looks correct. Email address,
email attributes, etc.
This is wierd.

Re: Help...Mailboxes are not created
so the users cannot access the mailboxes? is that the issue? what's the
error they get when attempting to configure an Outlook profile? or can they
access the mailboxes via OWA?

Re: Help...Mailboxes are not created
when you're trying to configure the Outlook profile, do you use the "display
name" or alias? have you tried both? can the users ping the Exchange
server from their PCs? what's the URL you're using when trying to access
the mailboxes via OWA?

??? you're saying the Exchange server needs to "be" a GC? where did you
ever get that idea? not recommended, at all...or did you mean "see" a GC?
was there a connectivity issue between the Exchange server and the GC?

Re: Help...Mailboxes are not created
I set the Exchange Server(DC) as a Global Catalog and everything worked.
But now I have a new problem,
I installed a second Exch Server(Member Server) and users on that server
experience an unacceptable amount of latency opening Outlook. Maybe that is
the cause.

Any suggestions?
