event id 8197 on exchange 2007 ccr mailbox servers
We have a native Exchange 2007 sp1 rollup1 environment with 5 ccr clusters.
Until recently, we did not have any public folder databases in our
environment. We added one public folder database to one of the ccr clusters
last week for the sole purpose of supporting blackberry enterprise server
(unfortunately, BES still requires public folders).

As soon as we added the public folder database, we started seeing event ID
8197 on all of the active cluster nodes EXCEPT on the node where the public
folder database resides.

The text of the error message is this:

Event Type:	Error
Event Source:	MSExchangeFBPublish
Event Category:	General
Event ID:	8197
Date: 5/13/2008
Time: 10:00:40 AM
User: N/A
Computer:	Server01
Description:
Error initializing session for virtual machine mbx01. The error number is
0x80040111. Make sure Microsoft Exchange Store is running. Also, make sure
that there is a valid public folder database on the Exchange server.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I've seen a lot of posts with this event ID, but they all have to do with
Exchange 2003, not 2007. Any idea why this error is showing up on clustered
mailbox servers?

Thanks.

What happens if you fail-over on those node? Same error?

Re: event id 8197 on exchange 2007 ccr mailbox servers
If I failover these nodes to the passive side, then the passive node starts
getting the 8197 event.

Re: event id 8197 on exchange 2007 ccr mailbox servers
I take that back. The error has stopped on one of the clusters after moving
the cluster over to the passive node and then moving it back. I will test the
other 4 clusters to see if the error stops on those as well. That looks like
it will do the trick.

Thanks Andy!
