Okay, found out this is not an Excel issue but an issue with how I setup the
calculated member. When you pick the Currency format, you also have to
specify the Language. However, Language is not exposed via the form, so you
have to switch to script view, add the line LANGUAGE = 1033, and voila, the
Currency format now comes through.
