RE: Using Notification Services for an event driven framework?
What I need to do is send an email to a person if a metric in SSAS hits a certain value. I have a created a scorecard in SSRS but it currently lacks any kind of alerting functionality that would email a manager if a metric exceedes a certain value. I know BSM can do this but I dont want to have purchase it. Can an alert type functionality be easily built in SSRS (using data driven subcriptions maybe?)? Is there some other way to easily do this?

I have read that Notification Services will not be in SQL Server 2008 and that some of the functionality will be moved into SSRS so if this is true I would rather not build something in an application that has a limited life.
