installing a new named instance on remote server
I did this for a MOSS 2007 small farm, but I think I may be "illegal".

Background: DC is running SBS 2003 Premium SP1 - which comes with SQL 2000
bundled in. Second server runs Windows Server 2003 SP2 R2, and has MOSS 2007
installed on it. What I want to do is take advantage of the SQL server on
the SBS box and place the datafiles and logs on the data partition I have on
the MOSS server (about 350 GB in size).

What I did: Placed the SQL 2000 CD in the SBS box, chose "Remote Computer"
from the setup wizard and changed the UNC path for the location to match the
data partition on the MOSS server. Installed and then upgraded with SP3a.
Looked at the Programs list on the MOSS server and now I see what looks like
full-blown SQL Server. If so, I'm not licensed to install a second copy,
and don't have the CAL's to cover it.

If I did wrong, then how should I have installed the named instance?

Many thanks in advance!
