Updating SQL-server
How can I update my SQL-server - not the Windows on the server it's
installed but the SQL-server software itself ?

Can I just turn to the usual "Windows update site" and there run the "test
for updates" ?

Best regards

RE: Updating SQL-server
You update your SQL Server by applying service packs or hotfixes. On a
production box, I would not consider Windows updates. You really want to test
a service pack/hotfix before you apply it to the prod. SQL service packs and
hotfixes come with installation instructions.

".... applying service packs or hotfixes." - where and how can I get them ?

".... Windows updates." - I did NOT talk about updating "Windows" !

"SQL service packs and hotfixes come with installation instructions." -
"comes" from where ?

Re: Updating SQL-server
You can get the SQL service packs from the MS website. So for instance, if
you type "SQL Server 2005" and "Service Pack 2" in Google, it would take you
to the download site.

I wasn't talking about updating Wiundows either. I was referring to the
Windows Update service.
