Meaningful objectives for DBA
What are meaningful objectives for DBA in performance appraisal.

Any thoughts.

Re: Meaningful objectives for DBA
Huh? Speed of inserts and speed of query execution are what you care about,
if that's what you're asking. In what context are you asking this question?
You're looking for a new database and want to know how to evaluate it? If
so, test it doing what you're going to do with it (of course)! Or you're a
columnist for a magazine which is going to publish some performance reviews
of competing databases and you want to know what to use?

Re: Meaningful objectives for DBA
In yearly performance appraisal for a employee (In this case DBA), What
should be meaningful performance objectives.
Example: Near zero downtime for databases, No issues with backups for the
year etc etc.

Re: Meaningful objectives for DBA
Technical goals may include

Goals for database availability
Number of outages
Mean time between failures
Database performance benchmarks
Service oriented architecture
Regular Backups
Testing Recovery
Disaster planning and testing
Database problems noticed and corrected before user impact
Database reports using SSRS or other reporting tools
SQLBPA issues and resolution

Plus specific to organization.
