Re: HTML link on image
Your first example will work by inserting it into a code fragment box and
dragging the box over the image. Try:

<a href="http://www.google.com/" rel="nofollow">Click Here</a>

You can also just add a hyperlink using the hot spot link, but I don't know
about the nofollow part. What are you trying to do?

Re: HTML link on image
I have get a kind of 950+ penalty from Google and i am trying to find out the
reason, so as i read in many threads about this kind of penalty i need to add
the rel="nofollow" into the affiliate links that i have in my website.

But i would like to add the html code into pictures ( as it is my current
design ) otherwise i will need to destroy the design of my website.

Re: HTML link on image
In an effort to learn about rel="nofollow" I google the term, and then the
"950 google penalty". Somehow I suspect that your issue has more to do with
who you are linking to...not how you are linking. Read:
http://www.netwriting.co.uk/2007/07/13/overcoming-google-950-penalty/

Anyway, I don't know of a way to add the tag other than using the code
snippet approach. Sorry.

Re: HTML link on image
Actually its not yet clear the reasons of the 950 penalty and i have read
hudrents of threads and everyone said something different..in my case it can
be these affiliate links that need the "fofollow" or the duplicate content i
have. I will do an experiment by removing for a while these links and
creating unique text content to see how it will go..

Anyway thank you for the support

Best regards

Re: HTML link on image
Panos,

You have been studying SEO far more than I, and so I would defer to your
judgment. I made my comment based on some of the links on your links page.
Seems you are linking to some link exchange services, and I have read where
you can be penalized for using some of these...but like I said, I haven't
put much energy into learning the "art" of SEO optimization...good luck.

Re: HTML link on image
David,

You are correct. Some webmasters got the idea that since Google counts
links to a page in its ranking, they could set up affiliate links, thus
falsely boosting the importance. So Google added this protection to its
plethora of various things it looks at to determine a rank.

My opinion: trying gimmicks to get a higher ranking is like winking at a
girl you like in the dark. Spend the time making the content as relevant
as possible and promote it the old fashioned way - print or radio adds,
fliers, word of mouth, getting other sites whose content compliments
yours (and vice versa) to add a link.

Man, have I been busy! This is the first time I have checked this NG
this week. I've got 60 hours in - since Monday, and still have a few
hours to go today.

Re: HTML link on image
David,

Actually, not many. I took off Sunday and went to mom's for our family
reunion, so I lost a whole day of work. Then I had my regular paper to
produce. Our office manager's husband died, and I had just replaced the
other lady (who became senile and incapable of doing her job) with
another person, who hasn't learned how to do everything yet. So I had to
do both their jobs. On top of that, I also published the Fair's paper,
which was 1.5 times larger than mine, plus do their mailing and deliver
2,500 papers to their office. Covered two press conferences, something
Linda normally does, and had to update about 25 web pages and attend a
fair board meeting. I did stake up about 50 tomato plants and water the
peppers, but that was at 9:30 pm.

I worked until 11:00 pm yesterday and have almost finished updating the
fair's site. Thank goodness for Cut & Paste.

Re: HTML link on image
David,

I am out playing in my garden now - bottom watering my peppers and
chopping weeds out of the garden in between (plus drinking some beer so
I don't get dehydrated!)

Here's a couple of cucumbers I took to the family reunion:
http://www.valleycat.net/garden/july6cucumber.jpg

They are not that big, but my grand nieces love cucumbers!
