Project 2007 crashes when trying to open existing files. If I make a new file and save it, then try to open, it will also crash. Have un-installed and re-installed Project 2007 twice with no changes.
Hello Black Dog, There's a fairly long series of posts started on 10/1/08 about this specific issue. For most, if not all posters, the problem appears to be traceable back to an update done by Norton Internet Security. The fix is to disable the Microsoft Office Plug-in on Norton. So, are you running Norton Internet Security? Do you have the Office Plug-in enabled? See the post titled "Microsoft Office Project has stopped working" start on Oct 1 by "Kazier" in this newsgroup. I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along. Black Dog; Try opening up Norton AV. Find the option for Real Time Scanning. Disable scanning for Microsoft Office documents. Apply and close. Then, try to open your project files. Good luck, Bill "black dog" wrote: > Project 2007 crashes when trying to open existing files. happened to me Monday morning Oct 6/08 go in and disable Norton Real Time Protection for MS office. I guess they are working on a patch but at least I can now open my files. Good luck
Thank you. I spent hours on Google researching a fix for this problem. Good that I looked up this post. Regards, PR "Bill2007" wrote: > Black Dog; > > Try opening up Norton AV. Thx... Pls note that the method for disabling this functionality in NIS2008 is in the Options screen.
