Freezing Tasks
Is there anyway you can freeze a task in Project?
Some of the work has been carried out but there is no definate date of when
or if the remaining work will resume?
Many thanks

Re: Freezing Tasks
Hi,

The most effective way is to update the Actual Work performed on the Task so
far then click and drag the incomplete part of its Gantt bar to when it
might re-start. Project automatically leaves the actual work behind and only
moves remaining work. I call it "Rip and drag"!

Re: Freezing Tasks
As the PM aren't you the one that makes the decision about when the task
should resume or if the remaining work can be dropped? Decide, then use the
method Rod suggested to reschedule the task, use the "Reschedule Uncompleted
Work To Start After..." tool in the Tools / Tracking / UpdateProject menu to
schedule a resume work date, or after posting your Actual Work and Duration
for the task set the RemainingDuration to zero indicating no more work is
required on it. Once done. tell the resource when or if they need to resume
work.
