It depends on what software you are using or have available.  It would 
also depend on the specifics of the photo.

    Generally it would require software capable of selecting areas of a 
photo and then editing just those areas.

Start by acquiring some image editing software , then open the photo in 
it, select the background color and change it to transparent or white. 
If you have problems, check the Help in the program you decide to use.
