hotmail block outlook and outlook express for free users, you have to pay for their premium accounts to be able to use mail clients such as outlook

Are you serious? So I wont be able to use Outlook at all with the free windows live accounts? What if I were to get a gmail account?

Correct.

Gmail accounts can be configured to use either POP3, or IMAP. MS Outlook
supports both.

If you get yourself a gmail account, you can forward your hotmail email to gmail, then set up gmail
with outlook, that way outlook can then retrieve mail from hotmail.

Just to jump on the bandwagon, i have two hotmail accounts.  both free, one 
is .com, and the other .co.uk, 

My .com one has synced with Outlook 2007 easily, however, my .co.uk one will 
not, it fails to find it when it connects to the hotmail website.  

THey are both over 3 years old, and i can't work out why it won't do the 
.co.uk one.  

Any ideas?
