Anyone know of a way to block end users from creating distribution groups in Outlook 2003? Don't ask...
You posted in an end user group. Might this be an Exchange question? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Dubbin" wrote in message news:CE1A9212-8E5F-411A-BEE5-D75E3D702275@microsoft.com... > Anyone know of a way to block end users from creating distribution groups > in > Outlook 2003? Don't ask...
It might be possible by using Group Policy Objects to block the New | Distribution List command (IDs: 5434, 5435, 5436) and the Ctrl+Shift+L key combination (76, 12). You can disable any menu or toolbar command by using a Group Policy Object. The article at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA011402401033.aspx explains how; look at the section on "Disabling menu items and command bar buttons." -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Microsoft Outlook 2007 Programming: Jumpstart for Power Users and Administrators http://www.outlookcode.com/article.aspx?id=54 "Dubbin" wrote: > Anyone know of a way to block end users from creating distribution groups in > Outlook 2003? Russ, Thanks for the reply, but we want to force users to not be able to create 'personal' distribution lists in their OAB in Outlook 2003. Sorry for the Confusion "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: > You posted in an end user group. No, blocking .pst file use would have no bearing on this issue at all. Personal distribution lists can be created in any contacts folder, including those in Exchange mailboxes. -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Microsoft Outlook 2007 Programming: Jumpstart for Power Users and Administrators http://www.outlookcode.com/article.aspx?id=54 "Gordon" wrote: > "Dubbin" wrote in message > news:3E2B84AF-7609-436E-816C-20B899375964@microsoft.com... > > Russ, > > > > Thanks for the reply, but we want to force users to not be able to create > > 'personal' distribution lists in their OAB in Outlook 2003. > > > > Is there not a group policy that excludes the creation of pst files full > stop?
