Outlook stops sending after a few hours
Using Outlook 2003 SP3. After having Outlook open for several hours it stops
sending messages and they just pileup in the outbox. Sometimes closing
Outlook and then restarting it fixes the problem, other times I have to
reboot.

My internet connection is stable and is working fine at the time that I cant
send. I can ping the SMTP server. I have tried a different SMTP server.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: Outlook stops sending after a few hours
Enable the send/receive progress bar and post the error message(s).

Re: Outlook stops sending after a few hours
I'm guessing you're using POP3 or IMAP as your server? Just a SWAG but
what is your automatic send/receive interval set to?

Re: Outlook stops sending after a few hours
that should be fine. Are you scanning mail with a virus scanner? That will
cause problems such as this.

Re: Outlook stops sending after a few hours
As long as you have the AV on autoprotect, you'll be fine. It'll pick up any
viruses you try to open as outlook writes attachments to the hard drive
before opening.

Thanks. Interesting, and makes me feel better about turning it off.
I'm going to try turning it off as well as running OL in safe mode on

Re: Outlook stops sending after a few hours
Sometimes turning off / diasabling the AV intergration doesnt work, and as
such it is neccessary to completely uninstall the Av, reboot, prior to
reinstalling without the Outlook intergration

Re: Outlook stops sending after a few hours
In addition, when it comes to Norton an uninstall isn't complete. There is a
utility on their website to help perform a proper uninstall.
