My database has a contact ID column that automatically gives the client the next available number. However, I'm tryin to insert a few clients that already have a contact ID number and are just not in the database. When I create a new row, I cannot change the ID number to what I want. The properties say it is unlocked and enabled. is there anything else to try?? thanks, Laura
Laura Is there a chance that the ID column is defined as an Autonumber datatype? -- Regards Jeff Boyce www.InformationFutures.net Microsoft Office/Access MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Microsoft IT Academy Program Mentor http://microsoftitacademy.com/ "Lawi" wrote in message news:B6A62700-9910-4A81-A9D6-540E62DF6575@microsoft.com... > My database has a contact ID column that automatically gives the client the > next available number.
