Revealing codes   

I have WordPerfect, and Word97. WordPerfect will reveal codes throughout a 
document by clicking View > Reveal Codes, but I can't find a similar 
function in Word. Is there one, and if so, how can I activate it? Thanks.

There isn't anything exactly like Reveal Codes in Word because Word
doesn't use codes. In more recent versions there's a Reveal Formatting
task pane, but that doesn't exist in Word 97.

Thanks very much, Jay, for a useful and complete answer. I've saved both 
links you suggest in a Favourites "Word" folder.
