Strange Table formatting problem
I have a strange problem with tables I create in Word 2003.

It has only just started to happen.

When I add text to the various cells, then go to format them, for
example Bolden, Italics, Font, Text size, justification, it get
applied to the whole table. It takes a lot of effort to get it
correct.

Can anyone suggest what has gone wrong and how to fix it.
I've deleted normal.dot in case that was corrupted but to no avail.

Many thanks

Re: Strange Table formatting problem
Likely a special case of the problem described at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/WholeDocumentReformatted.htm

Interestingly, this happened to me years ago wrt alignment (left, right,
decimal). At the time I couldn't figure out what was going on, and I really
don't think it was a matter of "Automatically update" because I could format
specific cells without adverse effect, but if I selected an entire column
and changed the alignment, then the alignment changed for the whole table.

If this is your situation, it would probably be well to treat the *document*
as corrupt; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/CorruptDoc.htm

Re: Strange Table formatting problem
I've had problems like yours when the table style used specifies the font and
text alignment. To fix it:

Select the whole table
Apply a plain table style (usually Table grid)
Reformat your table
----Or apply another table style that only specifies grid, fill, banding, and
such. Then apply the new style and the paragraph styles you want.
