RE: Spell check stopped working
Please excuse me. I am operating windows xp with word 2007. This spelling
problem does not follow the applications across Office. It only happens in
word. Further, I created a new profile and the speller in the new word
application under that profile works right. Evidently I have a wrong setting
in my profile. I checked under Office Button â Proofing â and seem to have
the same boxes checked and marked. But the problem remains.
How does it manifest itself? If I type the following:
thaat is why I want to leeve.
The grammar correction will capitalize the T is that, but the double aa and
ee will be accepted as correct.

RE: Spell check stopped working
Ah 2007.
As you may have seen elsewhere in this forum, proofing in 2007 seems to have
many problems. Searching this newsgroup and the Application Errors newsgroup
for Spelling/Proofing 2007 you will hit many problems and solutions.
Hopefully you will find one that fixes your problem.
Come back if you do, it will be of interest.
Best of luck to you

RE: Spell check stopped working
Quick fix? Is there any way to keep Office on the PC, remove it from one
specific profile, then ad it back to that one profile? I know the error is
profile specific.

RE: Spell check stopped working
I apologize, but after a while of fighting such problems I just want to move
on. I don't get as excited about solving the problem as I once did. I set
up an alternate profile in XP and moved most of my files there. Now I have
to deal with getting my Outlook calendar dates moved/imported. But Word
works right!

RE: Spell check stopped working
I was so happy when i found this thread, I have the same problem. Did you
ever find out why this was happening? From my understanding all you did was
create a new user and copy over your files, does this work for you now, I
mean you haven't come across the problem since.

RE: Spell check stopped working
I'm having the exact same problem in Word and Outlook 2007 operating under
Vista. Spell check just stops. When you run it manually, the message just
says "completed", which of course it's not. Then sometimes mysteriously it
will start working again. The "do not check" button is never checked and the
language is always set to English.

RE: Spell check stopped working
I am having similar trouble with all Office 2007 applications (Word, Excel,
Powerpoint & Outlook), running on Windows XP.
I can open a brand new document, enter "I am completely at my wit's eenndd."
and then run spell check. It checks the grammar, but not the spelling. It
just reports "The spelling and grammar check is complete."
I don't really want to create a new profile and move everything to it! That
would be a complete disaster in terms of wasting my time!
Help!

RE: Spell check stopped working
Shouln't there be two dictionaries in the dialog box? 1) custom, 2) the other
- which is missing in my case.
