Word automatically switching to different undesired language
Word keeps automatically switching my language settings to Spanish and when I
switch it back to English and begin working again it automatically reverts
back to Spanish again.

It's not just that all of the redlines bug me; some of the words that are
semantically similar get autocorrected and I can't have that for content
we'll be publishing.

Details that might help; this seems to only be happening when I'm working
with files that have a fairly complex template associated with them, with
many macros that are used to link the template document to a sharepoint
site/SQL db and subsequently to a web site. Could this be something in the
template?

Do you have automatic language detection turned on?

Tools > Language > Set language > [x] Detect language automatically

If so, try turning it off.

Thanks Opinicus...yes, the automatic language detection was off already.

Thanks for taking the time to post; any other ideas?

Re: Word automatically switching to different undesired language
When you go to Tools > Language > Set Language are both Spanish and English
at the top of the list above Afrikaans? If so, you'll need to do an Edit >
Select all (or CTRL + A) and then go back to Tools > Language > Set Language

Let us know if this helped.

Cheers

Re: Word automatically switching to different undesired language
Thanks BO.

That's right; both languages appear at the top.

This is in Word 2007...when I do a "select all", the option to Set Language
in the Proofing section of the Review tab goes grey and I can't go back in to
select English as the default as you suggested. Why would that option not be
available after selection all of the content?
