I have changed the language to UK English and set it as default, but whenever I do a spell check it keeps reverting to US English!! PLEASE help, I can't figure out why it only seems to spell check in US English. Thanks. I am using Office for Mac V.X with OS X 10.4.10

Until you get an informed opinion, I'll make a few suggestions that I've discovered by trial and error (lost of both) over the years: It seems that on new documents it inherits the chosen dictionary from the template. The default template is normal.dot - I recall spell checking that in UK English then saving the document. I suspect that each document has its own language setting (in case you want to author a book in Swahili) and once set it's devilishly difficult to persuade it otherwise. This primarily affects documents sent to you by foreigners, once you get the first bit right. -- Steve Swift http://www.swiftys.org.uk/swifty.html http://www.ringers.org.uk
It's a most annoying thing! Even when you change it once - remembering to "select all", it soon returns to US English (or other language). Is it possible to eradicate "Garbage" English from my computer?
I'm using XP, so OS isn;t the problem, but Office 2007
I have the same problem. It always wants to spell check in US English not English (UK) English. I don't even have a normal.dot file on my hard drive, so I can't set it in that.
