I can't make changes to my existing normal.dot and I can't create a new normal.dot. If I make changes for example to my font or page margins and tell Word to set the changes as my default when I close Word it doesn't even attempt to change my normal.dot as you can usually see it doing very quickly in the bottom left corner. I tried deleting all normal.dot files and when I open and close Word you would normally expect to see Word creating a new normal.dot, but it doesn't and again you don't see it doing it in the bottom left corner. The only way I've been able to get around this is by opening Word (without a normal.dot in place) set my document up the way I want it to be, save it as a template, close Word and then rename the template to normal.dot. The next time I open Word it reads the normal.dot I created, but again I can't make further changes to it unless I go through the same process. Does anyone know what's causing this and how I fix it?
Do *not* attempt to create a Normal.dot by saving a document; this *will not* work. If you have Acrobat 7 installed, it is the cause; see the very last section of http://www.gmayor.com/lose_that_adobe_acrobat_toolbar.htm -- Suzanne S. That was it precisely! Thank you very much! :-) "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote in message news:O23BKR4RFHA.356@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl...
