In Word 2003 whenever a user logs in for the first time it will lockup the application for awhile and then eventually it will start to work again. After that initial lockup the program will open up fine from that point on. If you delete or rename the normal.dot the same thing will happen. It seems like its locking up when either searching for the normal.dot or created a new normal.dot. We have removed and installed office 2003 numerous times. This include removing just word and reinstalling it. We have checked security and this happens with Admins as well. Any help would be appreciated Thanks
If possible, do the initial startup with the user logged off the network. You may want to unmap mapped drives, especially any that are no longer in use. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/ which is awesome!
