Add color to the open face font
I would like to be able to add color to the white area of any open-faced
font. Can this be done freeware or within the MS Word software program?
This would really make DVD titling in one's movie library index very nice
indeed.

I am running MS Word 2002. Thanks!

RE: Add color to the open face font
By definition, an open-face font shows the color of the background in the
"open" part. You could create an image of the text and edit the openface
color with a graphics program, but that could be somewhat tedious.

Actually, you don't even need to use open (hollow) fonts. ALL fonts
have an outline and an interior.

You can use Word Art and change the outline thickness and color, as
well as the fill color. Works easily.

Detail:

Select View / Toolbars ->
Make sure that either "Word Art" or "Drawing" is checked.
If "Draw" is checked, it will have a tilted 3D "A" icon, which opens
the Word Art toolbar.

If "Word Art" is checked you will see the full Word Art Toolbar.

To start, click the the 3D "A" and select a general shape. The first
box is plain linear text. When you say OK, you enter the text you
want; OK then produces the text. Click on the text and then select
Format Word Art (the bucket and paintbrush icon) to get the rest of
the options.

It's MUCH easier DONE than SAID!

Quick response and great answer!

It would be nice if there is a software that takes the options just a little
further. If anyone knows of any software other than something too compicated
like PSP, I would love to know the link. For the time being, this will do
fine. Thank you so much!

Photofiltre is nice (and free)... My 11 year-old son uses it to create all
kinds of nice effects...
So it can't be too complicated...

Hi,
Paint.NET is amazingly good. It¢s free and it¢s from a team of developers
at MS. High quality software.

Re: Add color to the open face font
Thank you so much, everyone! Your responses are all great. I have
downloaded both Paint NET and Photo Filtre for comparison. Up front they
seem to be just what I am needing. When creating DVD case inserts for my
movie library, either of these programs appear to be perfect for what I
need. Can't wait to get started!
