Printing WORD 2003 doc. does not work in WORD 2006?
I have a friend who just called me. He got a document sent to him as an
attachment, created in Word 2003. It will not print and he has only Word
2006.

What can he do or download to make this document also print for him with
Word 2006?

Do you mean Works 2006? I am not familiar with all of the combinations
that were sold but I believe that might have included Word XP/2002. In
any case, it should open a Word 2003 file. Try saving the e-mail
attachment to a directory on the HD and open or print it from there.
Possibly security setting are keeping the attachment from being
opened/printer while it is still just an attachment.

NO, I mean he has MS Office 2006 and the attachment is from MS Office 2003,
both in WORD, not Works.

Unless Office 2006 is a Mac version, there is no such thing. And if it's a
Mac version, try posting at

Re: Printing WORD 2003 doc. does not work in WORD 2006?
Really?

The problem I am having is that there is no MS Office 2006. There is Office
XP (sometimes called 2002), MS Office 2003, MS Office 2007.

There is an Office 2006 but it is Ashampoo Office 2006.
http://www2.ashampoo.com/webcache/html/1/product_2_0138__.htm

The word processor part is called Textmaker rather than Word.

And there is a Softmaker Office 2006.
http://www.softmaker.com/english/of_en.htm

Both claim MS Office file compatibility.

Well, there is Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006
but that hardly fits. There are occasional mentions of MS Office 2006 on
certain web sites. However, those concerned a future product, one that was
released later than originally anticipated (what's new?) and it was released
as Office 2007.

As did Suzanne, I wondered about a Mac Office version. However, there is Mac
Office 2004 and an Office 2008 looming on the horizon.

However, as confused as it all makes me, none of that detail really matters
much. Any Word version should open documents created by previous versions.
If the versions are many generations separated, it might be necessary to
install additional file converters. That would not appear to be the case in
the situation you describe.

Did you read and try the solution I suggested?

Re: Printing WORD 2003 doc. does not work in WORD 2006?
It may well be Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006. Bob Buckland
mentioned that the other day, and I'd already forgotten it.
