Re: maximum number of OLE links?
Hi Willy,
Here's the link to the documentation on the "maximum number" of things in Word 2003 and 2007.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211489/en-us#top
OLE links aren't mentioned specifally, but behind the scenes they are maintained by "fields", so the max would be
32'0000. But they also fall in the category of things that are "Limited by available memory".
Yes, Excel will be slow because in the background it's needing to update all the linked information in Word when the
document is opened, when the fields are forced to update (or are being worked in), and when the document is being
printed. The same instance of Excel does all the work for the Word document, as well as what you as end-user are
working on.

Re: maximum number of OLE links?
This Still does not tell me how many OLE links I can have in a word document.
I am trying to get a total number of Excel Links I can have in a word
document.
The link you gave me tells me everything else from file size to length of
bookmark names to the number of fields per document.
If OLE link is part of the Categorie Field, what does a field consist of and
how many Fields are there in an OLE Link?
Thank you,
Willy

Re: maximum number of OLE links?
Hello Cindy,
I have a slightly different question, but I think it is the same answer that
you have given here. I have created an application that reports data out
using Excel 2007. The first worksheet is a summary worksheet. Then there are
a number of other worksheets containing detail information. The number of
detail sheets is depending on a parameter passed into the routine.
As my app puts data to the summary sheet, it creates a link between the
summary sheet and the detail sheet of interest. There are currently five
versions of this report generated. Reports 1-4 have no more than 25 detail
sheets and everything works perfectly. The fifth report has 114 detail
sheets. The sheets are generated perfectly, but the app breaks during
creating a link and gives a "Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A03EC" which I have
not been able to decipher. What do you think is causing this?
Thanks kindly!
