My boss has a MAC and I have a PC. When he inserts graphics or pictures into a Document it says "QuickTime and a TIFF (Uncompressed) decompressor are needed to see this picture. What do I need to do?
You need to have the free QuickTime Player for Windows (current version is 7.5) available for download from any number of web sites. Try Googling for it or go to the Apple web site. Installing QuickTime Player for Windows 7.5 did not solve this problem for me... Hi J.B., Generally the message is intended for Word:mac users. It's often an incompatiblity that exists between certain mac graphic formats and Windows graphic formats and having Quick Time installed in Windows usually won't help. Try using a different graphic format, such as JPG to see if that helps. =========== <<"JB" wrote in message news:7DEABCAB-8652-4D7E-A671-A2525D2DEE0C@microsoft.com... In addition to Bob B's reply you might subtly hint to your boss that he *not* drag 'n' drop or Paste images into his Mac docs... Nor should you do so on the Win side :-) That's probably how the problem starts in most cases. Have him use Insert> Picture> From File. If he does it that way it really shouldn't matter whether the image is a JPEG, PNG, GIF or TIFF although the TIFF format is extensible so it depends on how the file was generated, but "usually" not a problem. The BMP format (on either platform) & Mac PICT images should be avoided. In Mac Word any images already in docs can be re-inserted by; 1- Control/Right-Click the image, select Save as Picture 2- Name the file & choose an appropriate image file format 3- Save 4- Delete the image from the doc, then use the Insert method mentioned above to insert the image back in based on the new image file.
