I only get a border when I copy & paste picture to word '07 doc   
I can see the image while enlarging or rotating but not while viewing or 
typing.

Check whether you have Office button > Word Options > Advanced > Show 
document content section > ”Show picture placeholders” turned off. In that 
case, turn it on, click OK and see whether it solves the problem.
