Track changes in Compatibility Mode
I am using Word 2007 and need to send a document to someone using an earlier
version of Word. Compatibility Mode doesn't allow me to turn on Track
Changes.

The person to whom I'm sending it isn't particulary computer-savvy so I'd
rather not have to send the document with instructions on how to turn Track
Changes on.

Is there anything I can do, please?

There is no inherent reason you can't turn on Track Changes in Compatibility
Mode in the same way as in Word 2007 format. I do it routinely.

Can you explain a bit more about how you're trying to turn on Track Changes and
what happens when you try? Is there anything else 'odd' about this document,
such as how it was created or what's been done to it since then? Do you have any
add-ins running?

Re: Track changes in Compatibility Mode
Thanks for your reply. In exasperation, I closed the document, went and had a
cup of tea and came back to it, whereupon it worked fine.

In essence, if I tried to turn on Track Changes either by clicking on the
status bar or using the ribbon, it just sat and looked at me and did nothing.
The dropdown on the ribbon said something about having limited functionality
in Compatibility Mode so that's why I assumed this was the problem.

Anyway, as I said, it now seems happy, so no doubt it was 'just one of those
things' which happens from time to time.

PS - it's Sunday - take a day off!!!
