"stuttering display"
I'm using Word 2007 on an HP Laptop with Vista.

I have noticed that on documents that run past about 20 pages ...
periodically when editing the display will "stutter" as I'm scrolling down a
page.

I don't know how else to describe it. If I'm scrolling down beyond the
bottom of the visible text, the last three lines of the screen will start to
repeat.

This isn't the display. It's like the last three visible lines of text are
copied and pasted. (But it's not an actual copy and paste.)

When I scroll back up they will sometimes remain and move with the text.

The rest of the display is unaffected. This happens in no other programs.

It presents a serious difficulty as occasionally I won't notice it's doing
this and I'll end up pasting or editing in the wrong place, because what it
looks like I'm working on isn't what's really there.

Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this or what I can do to stop it?

Thanks.
