If you are using the Insert | Symbol dialog to insert the section symbol, perhaps you have not noticed the Shortcut Key... button at the bottom that opens the Customize Keyboard dialog, in which you can assign a shortcut key for any selected symbol. The section symbol is one that is listed on the Special Characters tab, so it is easy to select it there and then click Shortcut Key... -- Suzanne S.
