Embedded Equations Word 2003
I create equations using Insert, Object, Microsift Equation 3.0. After
creating the equation I highlight it and copy to the docuement. Then I see
the following {EMBED Equation.DSMT4}. The only way to see this equation is to
use the print screen button or to print the docuement. I need to see the
equation whenever I open the docuement. Is it possible to make the equation
always visible instead of {EMBED Equation.DSMT4}. I teach math and I have
pages of formulae etc. Any ideas please.

Re: Embedded Equations Word 2003
Alt+F9 was no help. After pressing those keys the message I saw was "Welcome
to help for WordPerfect users." Can we please try again.

Re: Embedded Equations Word 2003
Ah, well, then you need to go to the General tab of Tools | Options and
disable "Help for WordPerfect users" (and "Navigation for WordPerfect
users" while you're at it); then try again. Alt+F9 is the built-in keyboard
shortcut for toggling field display. You can do it by right-clicking on a
field and choosing Toggle Field Codes or by going to the View tab of Tools |
Options and clearing the check box for "Field codes," but there's absolutely
no reason for leaving those WP options enabled, as they are worse than
useless.

Re: Embedded Equations Word 2003
Hi Suzanne, Thank you for ypur help. Thankfully, some progress has been made.
After following instructions the Alt+F9 keys works. I can now toggle between
{embeded equation.DSMT4} and an empty rectangle. In order to see the content
of the rectangle I can double click the left mouse button and I get to see
the equation and the Math Type screen. Unfortunately the Math Type screen
partially elliminates the document. If the right mouse button is clicked (1x)
the rectangle outline changes to 8 small black squares that form a rectangle,
but the equation is still not visible. Click this box and get a choice of 9
options but 1 is not enabled. I select Equation Object and can choose from
edit, open, and convert. This is all good progress but I still can not make
the equation(s) visible to my students. Do you have anymore
ideas please?

Re: Embedded Equations Word 2003
On the View tab of Tools | Options, clear the check box for "Picture
placeholders."
