I recently had to send my Dell laptop to have its motherboard replaced. Since then, whenever I transfer a file from my desktop into a folder by just moving the windows icons I loose access privileges to open the file. I am using Word 2003 in Windows XP. This has not only happened with word files. I tried to move some pictures the same way and now, when trying to open them, I get an âaccess deniedâ error and itâs like they completely disappeared. The word files are most important, and from all Iâve read it seems that Word 2003 does not even have permission setting. This is my personal computer and no one else changed any settings. Any help would be appreciated.
The permission settings are related to the operating system, not to Word. Log in as Administrator and take a look at the settings for the folder in question. For further assistance, you may want to ask in a Windows forum. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "cmshute" wrote in message news:E565FF2F-13D8-48E2-94E8-55CA45F32CB5@microsoft.com... >I recently had to send my Dell laptop to have its motherboard replaced. > Since then, whenever I transfer a file from my desktop into a folder by > just > moving the windows icons I loose access privileges to open the file.
