Re: Unable to open Print Layout View or scroll past certain point
No one outside your internal network will be able to download the document
because the IP address in your URL is a local (NAT) address behind your router.
Anyway, try selecting the document in the Open dialog, clicking the down arrow
next to the Open button, and choosing the Open and Repair item.
If that doesn't work, try running Word in safe mode by holding down the Ctrl key
while starting. That will prevent Word from loading any add-ins or using its
registry information. Then try your document. If that works, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProblemsStartingWord.htm for further
troubleshooting steps.
BTW, an uninstall/reinstall cycle almost never solves any problems in Word. The
culprit is almost always a damaged or poorly written add-in, a damaged
Normal.dot template, or a bad registry entry, and uninstall/reinstall doesn't
remove any of them unless you do a complete scrub and know where to look.

Re: Unable to open Print Layout View or scroll past certain point
Jay,
Apologies for the NAS file, still getting my head around how that works! The
file is available here:
http://tinyurl.com/kj4h3f
No joy with either (Open and repair or Safe mode) any other ideas? As an
update the file opens fine on my wife's laptop and my work laptop (both
running Word 2003 on XP) but NOT on my laptop (running Word 2003 on Vista).
I have tried cutting and pasting the whole document into a new file on an XP
machine then saving and opening that on my Vista, that will show the Print
Layout, but will not allow scrolling past a ceratin point. The document map
shows that the rest of the document exists but cannot jump ahead of the same
point.
Any other ideas appreciated!

Re: Unable to open Print Layout View or scroll past certain point
There is nothing wrong with the document. It opens, scrolls, edits and does
everything it should do in all views.
So the problem is with your PC and not with the document. I suggest that the
first thing to do is to clear out all the temp junk. Download the following
temp file cleaner to clean out your system.
http://software.addpcs.com/tfc/index.php
After cleaning out your temp files, check in the internet support sites for
your printer driver and graphics driver and make sure that you have the
latest drivers. Then delete and reinstall the printer: then update the new
graphics driver.
Now test Word again.
