Hi there, when I try to print a document in Word 2007 the application crashes, or I get a message saying Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup. A dialog then opens with No Default Printer appearing under the Default Printer lable even though I do have one set. A list appears underneath, but the option to Set as Default Printer is disabled. All other programs including Excel e.t.c. can still print without a problem.
Setting the printer as default is a Windows action from the Control Panel, Printer dialog. However, you should be able to select any printer from the drop down list in Word's print dialog. Are you saying that you cannot select the printer from the drop down list? Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the printer making sure that you have the latest driver from the manufacturer's support site? -- Terry Farrell - MSWord MVP "Waldy" wrote in message news:#zoO13i#JHA.2872@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Hi there, > when I try to print a document in Word 2007 the application > crashes, or I get a message saying Windows cannot print due to a problem > with the current printer setup. Yes I know you do that in Control Panel and a default printer is already selected. Yes I am saying that if you try to select a printer from the drop down, the Name field stays blank. > Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the printer making sure that you > have the latest driver from the manufacturer's support site? No, they are all network printers. If that was a problem, surely Excel would not be able to print?
Because you can print from other apps doesn't mean there isn't a problem with the printer. Have you been able to print from Word to that printer previously? Have you tried reinstalling the printer? Have you tried the Diagnostics button in Word? Yes, something must be wrong as Word just crashed when I clicked the round menu button to look for diagnostics. There was one setup package issue and it has resolved the problem. Thanks!
