I had the same error " Word cannot save due to file permission error" I could not save the doc. the error was not steady, sometimes it gave error after 4 savews, sometimes after 9 times i save... I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2009. I just added winword.exe to exclusion list (or trusted app). and my word was normal. Before adding winword.exe to exclusions list of antivirus, I had tried everything like, opened word from: Start = Run = winword /a Deleted normal.dot deleted data folder in the registry under microsoft office >1.0 (11.0 or 12.0 depending upon versions of office)>word > Data Nothing happened. Hope this solves the problem
