Re: weird printing problem - repost
First, a Dell printer is a close cousin of a Lexmark printer.
The first thing I would do is to disconnect the Lexmark printer. Uninstall
the lexmark drivers. Then restart the computer in safe mode. Cleanup any
device manager entries related to the printer. This may also include USB
subsystem entries.
Restart, let windows autodetect teh USB ports. (Unless you have a MBD that
uses OEM USB port and controller drivers, then use them.) Shutdown, Restart.
Install the Lexmark driver package per Lexmark's instructins and prompts.
The purpose of removing and reinstalling the USB ports and controllers is to
eventually force a reassociation between the USB ports and the printer
driver after it is reinstalled.
The presence of active printer monitors from other printers may be part of a
printer no print or print slowly problem.
