Outlook 2003 Stopped Receiving Exchange Email (Synchronization Issue Likely)
First, "I didn't change anything" (at least nothing that I am aware of).
This was working well last week.

Second, our Exchange server and Outlook 2003 is working for everyone else in
our office. From this I deduce that my client must somehow be the problem.

Third, in the Outlook 2003 client, I _can_ send and receive POP3 messages
via EarthLink. I _can_ send and receive Hotmail messages. I _can_ even send
messages via Exchange. But messages that I _can_ see in OWA suddenly stopped
being downloaded to my Outlook 2003 on 7/31/2005. : (

Facts:
1. When I initially start Outlook 2003 and the status in the bottom right
hand corner becomes "Connected", the text to the left of that says "Waiting
to update this folder". After a brief pause it changes to "This folder was
last updated on 7/31/2005."
2. Running Send/Receive will send out mail for any/all accounts.
3. Running Send/Receive will retrieve mail for all accounts except Exchange.
4. I don't like using OWA.
5. I've searched the Web/Newsgroups (via Google) and can't find advice on
how to proceed.
6. I'm running Office 2003 with Office SP1 on Win2K3 Standard without
Windows SP1.
7. I am getting a Synchronization Log error message:
   8:39:03 Synchronizer Version 11.0.6352
   8:39:03 Synchronizing Mailbox 'Todd Bleeker'
   8:39:03 Synchronizing Hierarchy
   8:39:14 1 folder(s) updated in online store
   8:39:16 Terminated in error
   8:39:16 [80040600-501-80040600-940]
   8:39:16 The client operation failed.
8:39:16 Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store
8:39:16 For more information on this failure, click the URL below:
   8:39:16
http://www.microsoft.com/support/prodredirect/outlook2000_us.asp?err=80040600-501-80040600-940
8:39:16 Microsoft Exchange offline address book
   8:39:16 0X8004010F

This leads me to the following KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=842284

The synchronization statistics on my Inbox are:
   Last synchronized on: 7/31/2005
   Server folder contains: 115 Item(s)
   Offline folder contains: 35 Items(s)

No Filter has been applied.

But the KB article is about Outlook 2000 and so the menu options don't match
up to the Outlook 2003 options. I can't find Synchronization anywhere in the
menu structure.

I did try to rename the ost file, but it is in use even after I exit from
Outlook.

I don't know how to interpret the results (no errors generated) but I
captured a transport log according to this KB article:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q300479

After enabling logging, I exited Outlook 2003, reopened Outlook 2003, ran
Send/Receive, disabled logging, exited Outlook 2003. Here's the log:

As you can see, the messages that I can see in my OWA Inbox did not get
downloaded to my Outlook 2003 client. Suggestions as to my next steps?

I got it fixed! I had to rename the locked OST file and everything is in the
process of re-synchronizing as we speak (somewhat slowly I might add).
